Lansley welcomes progress on Cambourne Foul Flooding
30 June 2010
Andrew Lansley CBE, MP for South Cambridgeshire, today welcomed progress to ensure that further foul flooding problems in Damson Way Cambourne were prevented. Residents have previously suffered from sewage flooding their homes, resulting from failures at the pumping station and an excess of storm water flooding the system.
Commenting following his meeting with Anglia Water, MCA developers, Cambourne Parish Council, Local Campaign Group RAFT, the Environment Agency and South Cambridgeshire District Council, Mr Lansley remarked;
“I was encouraged to see that significant progress has been made and that necessary maintenance and repairs are being carried out. Many of the faults have been rectified and we have identified ways in which we can work to prevent these problems from reoccurring. We will now be taking this process forward and I remain in continued contact with the Environment Agency and MCA developers to ensure that residents do not have to suffer from these problems again”.
